Learn creative printmaking techniques by one of Las Vegas most celebrated printmakers and Director of the NSA Visual Arts Program, Erik Beehn. Unlike most print processes that allow for multiple originals, the monotype is a form of printmaking where the image can only be made once. Similar to painting techniques, the artist produces a unique work by using water based materials applied to an acrylic plate. The beauty of monotype printing lies in its spontaneity and its allowance for combinations of printmaking, painting and drawing on the same media. At the end of this 3 hour workshop, each participant will leave with a monotype of their own. FREE and open to the public, no art or printmaking experience required. Materials provided by Test Site Projects.
A MONOTYPE is a unique print that is made from a non-repeatable matrix, such as a piece of plexi-glass or acetate.
