Gifted Young Artist Program

Any student, up to age 21, may audition for NSA's Gifted Young Artist Program. This program is designed for our most ambitious students who would like to prepare for auditions for college music programs worldwide. This program also equips the student to enter into a performing career after a few years of study. GYAP occurs during the academic year only (August through May).

Applicants are admitted through audition process. Currently enrolled students must re-audition for each new school year. Accepted students are obligated to perform at school recitals, special events, TV shows, and galas. GYAP is a FULL Scholarship program.

GYAP is open to piano, strings, and voice.

This program covers:

  • Private Lessons
  • Music Theory
  • Chamber Music
  • Chamber Orchestra (Strings)
  • Stage Etiquette
  • Concert Attire assistance
  • Competition preparation and guidance
  • College application guidance

Audition performance requirements: 

  • 2 Major scales (two to four octaves)
  • 2 Minor scales (two to four octaves)
  • 1 Major arpeggio (two to four octaves)
  • 1 Minor arpeggio (two to four octaves)
  • Sight reading of a two line intermediate level musical selection
  • 2 ear training questions (interval and harmony question)
  • One standard repertoire work no more than 5 minutes (cuts allowed)
